What will happen if I call the Center to report housing discrimination?
November 16, 2007
The Center will:
- take down information about what happened;
- investigate any complaint we receive;
- offer advice and counseling about the fair housing laws;
- provide free legal representation to the victims of housing discrimination.
We will keep all of the information you give us confidential unless you give us permission to make your identity known. We will not tell your landlord, the Department of Social Services, your Section 8 worker, the housing authority, your real estate agent, or anyone else that you have made a complaint about housing discrimination.
If there is evidence of discrimination, the Connecticut Fair Housing Center will help you file a complaint against that housing provider and/or refer you to another attorney to file a lawsuit.
