No. There are some exemptions to the law. In Connecticut, these types of housing are exempt from the law:
- owner-occupied two family houses, if the owner is trying to rent one unit;
- owner-occupied rooming houses if the owner is trying to rent a room;
- owner-occupied four family houses, if the owner does not want to rent to families with children or to people who are gay;
- single-family homes if the owner owns fewer than three such homes.
However, there may be other laws which apply to a particular landlord or owner, so always call the Connecticut Fair Housing Center if you have a question about which landlords are exempt from the law.
