Erin Kemple, Executive Director. Ms. Kemple joined the Connecticut Fair Housing Center in 2003. Prior to joining the staff of the Center, Ms. Kemple was a founder and executive director of the Housing Discrimination Project located in Holyoke, MA. She has been practicing law since 1985 representing low income individuals and families with housing and benefits complaints. She is a 1985 graduate of Suffolk University Law School and a 1981 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross.
Greg Kirschner, Director of Enforcement. Mr. Kirschner is a Hartford native who joined the Center in 2005. He is responsible for overseeing all of the Center’s enforcement work including investigations and actions filed with administrative agencies, as well as in state and federal court. Prior to joining the Center, Mr. Kirschner represented tenants with Legal Services of Northern Virginia and was involved in a civil rights class action on behalf of farmers. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 1999 and received a B.A. from George Washington University in 1996.
Erin Boggs, Special Project Director. Ms. Boggs began work at the Center in 2005 in response to an increase in the number of complaints Center staff received from the victims of predatory lending. Since joining the Center, Ms. Boggs has been responsible for working with the Connecticut Anti-Predatory Lending Task Force and others to ensure that Connecticut’s low income and minority homeowners are protected from abusive loan practices. Prior to joining the Center, Ms. Boggs worked at the Connecticut Civil Liberties Union first as a staff attorney and then as the interim legal director. She came to the Center from private practice. She is a 2000 graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and a 1993 graduate of Wesleyan University.
Ann Parrent, Senior Staff Attorney. Ms. Parrent has more than 12 years of civil rights experience beginning with her work for the ACLU and the Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights. She joined the Center in April 2008 to assist with its foreclosure prevention and anti-predatory lending project. Ms. Parrent is working with pro bono attorneys and housing counselors to assist the victims of predatory lending and homeowners in danger of foreclosure.
Andrew Pizor, Senior Staff Attorney. Mr. Pizor joined the Center in January 2008 to work on the organization’s anti-predatory lending legislation and to assist borrowers in danger of losing their homes to foreclosure. Currently, Mr. Pizor is working with the Center’s pro bono attorneys assisting borrowers who are delinquent on their loans. Andrew received his B.A. from Georgetown University in 1992 and his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1995.
Marcia Escobedo, Staff Attorney. Ms. Escobedo joined the Center’s staff to concentrate on representing Connecticut residents who have been subjected to housing discrimination as the result of a disability. In addition, Ms. Escobedo assists clients who have been denied housing because of their lawful source of income. She is a life-long resident of Hartford and is bi-lingual in Spanish. Ms. Escobedo is a 2006 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law and received her undergraduate degree in 2003 from George Washington University.
Monique Muller-Komolafe, Fair Housing Specialist. Ms. Muller-Komolafe recently rejoined the Center’s staff and brings with her more than five years of fair housing experience. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven in 1999 and completed her masters degree in June 2007. Since beginning work at the Center, Ms. Muller has performed rental tests, completed an accessibility survey project as well as conducting more than 50 home sales tests.
Gloribel Gonzalez, Fair Housing Specialist. Ms. Gonzalez has lived in Hartford her entire life. Ms. Gonzalez received a prestigious scholarship to Trinity College from The Hartford Insurance Company. The Hartford scholarship was designed to give Hartford public school students the opportunity to achieve a post-secondary education. During her years at Trinity College, Ms. Gonzalez obtained experience with civil rights work studying the effects of societal prejudice and stereotyping on the achievement levels of boys of color. Having experienced housing discrimination herself while growing up, Ms. Gonzalez brings a wealth of experience and insight to the Center’s work. She began working with the Center in June 2008.
Jerry Morgan, Fair Housing Specialist. Mr. Morgan is working at the Center through the Public Allies program. His work focuses on assisting the victims of abusive lending practices. Working from the Center’s New Haven office, Mr. Morgan reviews mortgage documents and works with community groups to inform the public about how to avoid abusive loans.
Letty Ortiz, Administrative Assistant. Ms. Ortiz, who is bi-lingual in Spanish, is the Center’s office manager and receptionist. She is responsible for completing intakes and referring cases to staff members. In addition, she schedules fair housing trainings and provides general information about the Center and its work
