Working with Local Communities
All communities have an obligation to follow the fair housing laws. In addition, those municipalities and the state government receiving money from the Department of Housing and Urban Development have a duty to affirmatively further fair housing.
To assist Connecticut’s communities with their obligations under the fair housing laws, the Connecticut Fair Housing Center consults with state and local governments to determine if their policies and practices conform to the fair housing laws as well as providing guidance on how to affirmatively further fair housing.
If your community needs assistance with an analysis of impediments to fair housing choice, an action plan to overcome impediments to fair housing choice, training on the how the fair housing laws impact state and local housing policies, or other issues regarding the fair housing laws and local communities, please contact Erin Kemple, Executive Director, to schedule a consultation on your community’s fair housing needs. She can be reached at 860-247-4400.
